Nurse Family Partnership (NFP) is a voluntary program for Houston County women who are expecting their first baby. The program is available at no cost to first-time mothers that are less than 28 weeks pregnant, meet the program’s income requirements and are residents of Houston County. Project Safe is a non-profit organization working to end domestic violence by providing domestic violence victims a 24-hour hotline, an emergency shelter, pet sheltering, safety planning, legal and social service advocacy, emergency financial assistance, ongoing supportive services for survivors of domestic violence and their children, transitional housing services, community support groups and short term individual counseling. SAFE Shelter provides a 24-hour crisis hotline, an emergency shelter, case management, food, clothing, other personal items, support groups for adults and children, assistance with temporary protective orders, courtroom advocacy, and on-site professional counseling services. SAFE Shelter serves Savannah, Georgia. There are both services available to shelter residents and outreach services to non-residents.
